Forbes Magazine Estimates Jay-Z Will Be Billionaire By 2015

Will Jay-Z really be joining the financial ranks of Oprah, Bill Gates, and Donald Trump? Well Forbes Magazine seems to think so. They have predicted that by 2015 ,the rapper could be a billionaire and be added to their Forbes 400 list. The Forbes 400 list the richest people in America.

Forbes has stated that Jay’s current estimated net worth stands at $450 million, in which the rapper takes in earnings not only from record sales and tours, but from his Rocawear clothing line, and from his part ownership of the New Jersey Nets.

Also on the list were Facebook’s Sean Parker ($900 million), Marc Pincus (Zynga $850 million), producer Jerry Bruckheimer ($850 million), Jerry Seinfeld ($800 million), movie producer James Cameron ($650 million), Michael Jordan ($500 million), Tiger Woods ($500 million), Craig Newmark of Craigslist ($400 million), Tyler Perry ($350 million) and Reid Hoffman of LinkedIn ($340 million).

When speaking to Forbes, Jay talked about what the “secret” to his success was so to speak in which he stated, “That was the greatest trick in music that people ever pulled off, to convince artists that you can’t be an artist and make money,” Jay went on to add, “Here you got these millionaire guys who had to pretend as if they weren’t successful at all or it would be like a detriment to their career. Hip-hop from the beginning has always been aspirational.” “It always broke that notion that an artist can’t think about money as well. Just so long as you separate the two and you’re not making music with business in mind. At some point it has to be real when they touch it, when they listen to it. Something has to resonate with them that’s real. When you’re in the studio you’re an artist, you make music, and then after you finish, you market it to the world. I don’t think anything is wrong with that. In fact, I know there’s nothing wrong with that.”

Well I’ve never looked at the receipts or bank statements from anything that Jay-Z has purchased, but as for becoming a billionaire in the next five years, it may be possible. I mean he has a new book “Decoder” which is being released in November which is sure to be a best-seller and bring in millions. Then when The Nets move to Barclays Center when it opens in New York City in 2013 he’s sure to bring in big bucks from all the revenue that the games and other events will generate. Also not to forget we have that upcoming “Watch The Throne” collabo album with Kanye West coming soon, which I say judging from the first single “Monster” will at least sell 300,000 copies in it’s first week, but that’s just my opinion. Jay-Z could speed up the process though if he launches another big tour like what he did for the Home and Home tour with Eminem and the nationwide tour to promote The Blueprint III. Jay has already been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records with wife Beyonce as the highest earning power couple in the entertainment industry for 2010. But we’ll just have to wait and see what happens in 2015.
